Preventative
Health Care and Immunizations: Our resident
general health veterinarians will perform complete
annual health examinations and establish
individualized vaccine protocols tailored to your
pet’s lifestyle and specific level of risk.
- Anesthesia: At NWAH, we
recognize the special concerns our client’s express
with regard to their pets being placed under general
anesthesia. For this reason we utilize only the
safest anesthetic agents and techniques to provide
that extra margin of safety, especially for our
older or high risk patients. Every patient placed
under anesthesia has a qualified veterinary
technician dedicated to their care, monitoring the
patient's vital signs and additional parameters such
as blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry.
- Diagnostic Laboratory Services:
In-house laboratory facilities provide for serum
chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and external and
internal parasite testing. Specialty diagnostic
tests including histopathology (biopsy) services are
available and performed by commercial veterinary
laboratories.
- Imaging Services (Plain and
Contrast Radiology, and Ultrasound Studies):
Radiographic studies and ultrasound examinations are
performed on site.
- Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery:
General and specialty surgeries are
performed on site in our state of the art surgical
suite.
- Dentistry: Prophylactic dental
cleanings include dental planing and polishing.
When necessary, advanced dental techniques and pain
management will be utilized for tooth extractions
and oral surgery.
- Pharmacy: Our in-house pharmacy
allows for the convenient filling of prescription
pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics, pain
relievers, supplements, shampoos, heartworm and
flea/tick preventatives.
- Medical Boarding: We provide
medical boarding as a service to our clients with
pets having special health care needs which place
them at risk if boarded in general kennels. Some
pets have medical conditions such as diabetes,
cardiac problems, or seizures, that require dally
injections, special medications, special diets, or
close observation. When circumstances prohibit the
owners of these animals from providing care at home,
Northwoods offers medical boarding to meet those
needs.
